Important cultural property Iwashina elementary school is the oldest elementary school in the Izu area which adopted western style such as shrine-temple style architectural style that used the sea cucumber wall and balcony.
It is an impressive building of Western style design completed in September
of Meiji 13,(1880) which is known as the second oldest in Japan, following
the former Mutsawa school of Kofu (Meiji 8) and the former Kaichi school
of Matsumoto (Meiji 9) .
In November 1992, the renovation work was completed for two years and restored to the shape of Meiji 13 years.
